Running a sale
From setting up a sale to the last pickup.
A sale moves through four steps. Each one carries its details into the next.
1. Set up the sale
Open Sales → New sale. Give it a name, its dates and its timezone: pickup windows are agreed in that timezone, whatever timezone your own device is set to. For the area, record the town or area only, never the street address.
2. Catalogue the lots
Open Inventory. Add lots one at a time with New item, or use Add many to paste a list. Put one lot per line, optionally starting with a lot code and ending with an asking price, separated by a tab or |:
LOT-12 | Pair of brass candlesticks | 40 LOT-13 | Carriage clock | 180
A column copied straight from a spreadsheet works too.
3. Record the results
On the sale, choose Record results and paste one sold lot per line: lot code, buyer and price.
LOT-12 | Jane Harper | 180 LOT-13 | jane@example.com | 45.50
Buyers are matched by email address or exact name. Anyone not found is added as a new buyer. You can also mark every other open lot in the sale as unsold.
4. Arrange the pickups
Open Pickups → New pickup, choose the buyer, and tick the lots being collected. Only lots sold to that buyer, and not already on another open pickup, are offered. Agree a window now or later.
If a buyer does not turn up, record it on the pickup, then reschedule: the original pickup stays on record and a new one takes over its remaining lots. Pickups that need attention are listed at the top of Pickups.
